Northwest Orient Airlines took delivery of their first 727-200 (N252US) on October 19, 1968. These were followed by the 727-200A (advanced) with higher thrust engines. Later, additional 727-200s were acquired from the merger with Republic. The markings on this sheet represent the second scheme worn by the type at Northwest with the NORTHWEST titles replacing the previous NORTHWEST ORIENT titles. In addition, when the later Bowling Shoe scheme was unveiled many of the aircraft remaining in this scheme had the new style N added to the tail which is also included with this set.
