In 1999, Northwest painted ex-Varig DC-10-30 N237NW into a special Alliancepaint scheme to commemorate the new Alliance between Northwest and KLM. Each side was a combination of the two paint schemes, but in reversed order side to side. The scheme did not last long, and N237NW was painted back into the standard NWA Bowling Shoescheme.
