According to what is said, it took a while for Pep Bassas to get the quintessence of the M3, but through work and method, he managed to become one of the fastest drivers in Spain… so much so that in 1988 he became the Carlos Sainz’s main rival for the Spanish Rally Championship, and in 1989, already with Sainz in the world championship with Toyota, he was crowned Spanish champion. In the 1988 Corte Inglés rally, also scoring for the European Championship, he demonstrated his class by taking third place behind Carlos Sainz in his Sierra Cosworth and Fabrizio Tabaton aboard a Lancia Delta Integrale. How beautiful the M3 was with the Telefunken colors adorning its body!
