In July 2019, the Royal Air Forces first Poseidon MRA1 had its first flight. The United Kingdom has ordered nine of the Boeing P-8 patrol aircraft to replace capabilities lost with the retirement of their Nimrod fleet several years before. The first aircraft (ZP801) is named Pride of Moray as a tribute to the region of Scotland in which the Poseidons home base of RAF Lossiemouth is located, and its historic ties to the UKs maritime patrol heritage.
